PODCAST 16: The Blair Witch Project & Paranormal Activity [Found Footage Edition]

This week Forest and Cory dive into the wonderful world of "found footage" films with The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity. The two discuss how beneath all the creepy ghost stories and shaky cameras, there is an element to these films that is deeply psychological.

Make sure to check out Cory's Can You Bear It?, a written review of Slasher Studio's Teddy, while also interviewing it's creators. Make sure to leave any comments or questions below so Cory and Forest can read and answer them during one of their next recordings.

I would love to see that home-movie you made of Blair Witch. Sounds hilarious.

Speaking of which, I'm a little surprised you guys didn't mention The Bare Wench Project (as stupid as that one is).

I also preferred the original ending to Paranormal Activity. Seriously, what's up with demons always wanting to eat the cameras?

Since you guys love those cliches that slasher movies and various monster movies have, I'd like to recommend something different, a board game. It's called Last Night on Earth. It's a zombie board game where a player plays as all the zombies, the other plays as the humans.

You will probably get a kick out of how the cards play up the cliches to perfection, like the "This could be our last night on earth..." card which the zombie player can play on 2 humans, which forces them to skip a turn, with the implications that they can't do anything because they're getting laid (which almost always means bad news in a horror environment).

This game is full of cards that do stuff like that, that any horror movie buff would dig.
