PODCAST 101: Only Lovers Left Alive & The Giant Gila Monster

This week Forest & Cory are too cool to concoct some sort of theme with the films they review. Forest shares his thoughts on Jim Jarmusch's new flick about vampires, Only Lovers Left Alive. Cory takes the low road, again, and reviews The Giant Gila Monster.

The gang also cover X-Men: Days of Future Past and their Wolverine fatigue, the future career of Tom Cruse, flea market VHS finds and they recap the weeks previous Netflix Movie Night. All this and Cory promises to re-watch Death Machine

Oh no, The Brave Frog? Someone's going to hang themselves.

How tall is Godzilla in the new movie? I'll go with 100 meters.

Jon brought this up and praised this movie, so I gotta bitch about it. Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah is overrated. I will admit, robo-Ghidorah was cool, and it had some so-bad-it's-good moments. But, the villains are some of the biggest bunch of dumb fucks I've ever seen in a movie. They do so much dumb shit that makes me think they were intentionally trying to fuck up their plans. Also, plot holes galore. After changing the past, why is it that everyone in the present doesn't seem to know things are supposed to be different? I go in depth as to why I don't like it that much on letterboxd.

Here's an interesting fact, the original 1954 Godzilla movie (Gojira) was nominated for Best Picture, but lost to Seven Samurai. It's the only Godzilla film to be nominated for best picture, though it did pick up the award for Best Visual Effects. Wonder if that can happen again?

Here's some trivia. What year did Godzilla get a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame? How much did the original Godzilla suit weigh?
