PODCAST 105: Alien Resurrection & Alligator

This week Forest completes his Alien odyssey by reviewing the fourth and final Alien film, Alien Resurrection. Cory tries to sell you listeners on Alligator, a much underrated personal favorite of his.

Forest & Cory also chat about Fifa 2014, drinking in North Carolina, the Incredible Hulk & the logic behind the "Gamma Bomb" and the ever present danger that elderly drivers present to pedestrians. If you happen to be listening to this on June 25th, you are unknowingly celebrating the 29th birthday of "The Jevil".

Alien Vs. Predator Vs. Batman

Didn't like Alien Resurrection (except for those characters Forest mentioned), but I do enjoy Alligator. It's an above average horror movie. It's a pity that the DVD isn't in circulation anymore, though I did manage to get a hold of it just before that happened, so yeah, suck it circulation!

Hey Cory, there is a sequel to Alligator. But be warned, it's not good. Come to think of it, there are plenty of giant alligator movies out there (SyFy films excluded), but most of them suck.

Also, there are Batman comics that have him go against Predator and Aliens (though all 3 aren't in the same comic as far as I know, unfortunately). But there are Aliens vs Predator vs The Terminator comics. Haven't read them, so I don't know if they're good or bad. There's also Superman vs Aliens (fuck if I know why that was made), Superman vs Predator, Judge Dredd vs Predator (now that I gotta read), and then an epic dose of "Batman and Superman vs Aliens and Predator".

By the way, you guys won't be seeing any of my posts for a while, about 2-3 weeks to be exact. I'll be overseas in good old Japan. So I'd like to recommend a couple movies for the occasion. Outrage, and Beyond Outrage.

I thought it was funny how Cory described how the alligator grew to super-HUMAN size and strength after ingesting the growth hormone, as if he were more like 'The Lizard' from the Spider-man comics, rather than just a filthy animal, like us listeners. :)

If ALLIGATOR was made today, it'd be a goofy SyFy Original starring a C-list celebrity and an 80's pop singer. Not to mention using lousy CGI not seen since early 90's PC game cutscenes. In my mind, practical effects always win. Sure, this movie and it's sequel have some silly moments, but it's so much easier to pay attention when characters are interacting with an animatronic creature, instead of a green screen or guy in a motion-capture suit. Also, when I turned 30 I took the movie's hair care tips to heart, and I always comb to the side.

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I really like "Resurrection" and maybe even put it behind "Alien" as my 2nd favorite in the series. It's highly watchable to me for some guilty pleasure reason. Jean Pierre Jeunet is a great director as well, and I'm surprised Forrest hasnt seen "Amelie" or "Delicatessen." The former is essentially a French Mad Max Cannibal movie of sorts. And Cory, welcome to being old.
