PODCAST 197: The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari & Alraune [Silent Film Edition]

This week the Horror Duo start the show with a special surprise as they take a look at a pair of films from the era a silent pictures. Forest takes a look inside The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, and Cory learns the ancient legend of the Mandrake root in Alraune.

The Duo also chat about the age old debates, Superman vs Batman, Marvel vs DC & Nintendo vs Sega, which leads to an anti-nerd-culture rant. All this and Cory speaks openly about what may be growing into a Minecraft addiction.

Now that the accursed Leprechaun series (well, I can't really dis' it, since I only watched the second one--and that was when I was 12 at my neighbor's sixth b-day party...he chose it over DARK ANGEL: THE ASCENT--it at least provided my hormone-filled mind with a few seconds of nudity) is over, perhaps you can review a Banshee movie. I think there's a 70s film called CRY OF THE BANSHEE and a few others with BANSHEE in the title. Also, the 1962 JACK THE GIANT KILLER has an Imp of the Bottle whose Irish accent is such that he can't *possibly* be a leprechaun.

I also listened to the Foxy Brown/Chained Heat episode. Linda Blair made another Women-in-Prison movie called RED HEAT, which pits her against Emmanuelle herself, the late Sylvia Kristel. I'm sure Cory would find that interesting.

What did HBO and TBS really stand for during the 80s and early 90s? It wasn't home box office or turner broadcasting network, despite what you may have heard or read.
