PODCAST 104: Alien 3 & Forbidden World [Imitation Alien Edition]

This week Forest reviews Alien 3, the third installment in the Alien franchise. Cory accompanies Forest, again, through his space voyage by reviewing Forbidden World. Another Alien rip-off produced by the great Roger Corman.

Forest & Cory also chat about the Eerie Roller Girls, celebrating Friday the 13th and the new "4K" restoration of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. As well as a complete Halloween box set from Scream Factory... that is, until some studio raises the money to make another one. *Sigh, the work of a completest is never done.

I'm going to do something different. I'm giving you guys an anti-recommendation. Do not watch August Underground: Mordum (or any of the movies in that fucking trilogy for that matter). It may be a movie that fits the description and standards of the type of slasher films you guys traditionally dig, a film about a couple who torture and kill people, and it's gory. But it's an awful fucking movie. It's the only movie I have ever rated 1/2 a star on letterboxd. That's how bad it is.

Why is it bad? Well Forest will hate it because it's a found footage film. Cory will hate it because there's no plot and the acting is bad. Everyone else who doesn't hate it for those reasons will hate it because it's like what Videodrome warned us about. It's just torture porn with no point or purpose (minus the real life snuff). The movie may have a reputation for being one of the most violent and disturbing films ever made, but that's not a good enough reason to make the movie worth watching. Hell, A Serbian Film at least had a point to it, even if many called bullshit on it.

So, bottom line, don't watch August Underground: Mordum (or any films in that trilogy). There you go, my anti-recommendation.
